A customer who opens a return and files a chargeback on the same order is paid twice if you settle both, and three or more orders on one card inside a day is somebody testing stolen numbers. Fraud Intelligence finds both in your own records and tells you what to do about them.
Predispute does not score your customers or guess which order will be disputed. It looks for what your own records can establish. An order carrying an open return and a chargeback at once is money going out twice, and pausing the return until the dispute resolves usually settles it, with the return record itself becoming evidence that the cardholder recognised the purchase. Three or more orders sharing a buyer inside a day is the shape of a card being tested, and small amounts on all of them make it likelier still, so the alert says how many were under $10. Holding fulfilment while you verify costs almost nothing. Predispute never holds or cancels anything; the call is yours, and what you stop is counted in dollars.
Card testing reads order details Shopify releases separately from installing the app, and it has not released them to us, so that check runs on Stripe today and not on Shopify. Where it cannot run the app says so rather than reporting a clean sweep it never made. Paying twice is a Shopify check: Stripe keeps no return record to pair with a chargeback. Fraud Prevented counts only orders you flagged and then stopped, so it reads zero until you stop one.
