What installing Predispute does

Three steps to install. Here is what you approve, and how to take it away again.

Three steps

  1. Install Predispute from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Approve the access listed below.
  3. See your dispute rate on each card network.

What Predispute can read

Shopify shows you this list on the approval screen. These are the exact permissions the app asks for.

  • read_shopify_payments_disputes
Your chargebacks: the amount, the card network, the reason, the status and the deadline.
  • read_orders
Your orders: what was bought, when, how much it cost, and its refunds, fulfilments and tracking.
  • read_all_orders
Your full order history, not only the last 60 days, so a rate can be worked out for past months.
  • read_returns
Your returns, so a refund or return that is open on the same order as a chargeback gets flagged.
  • read_customers
The customer on an order, mainly how many orders they have placed with you before.
  • read_shopify_payments
Your Shopify Payments account: the name that appears on a cardholder's statement, and the country.

Dispute evidence

These four let Predispute read and save evidence on a dispute in Shopify. Predispute never presses Submit for you. Shopify sends your response when you submit it, or on the due date if you do not.

  • read_shopify_payments_dispute_evidences
The evidence already saved on a dispute in Shopify.
  • write_shopify_payments_dispute_evidences
Lets Predispute save evidence text onto a dispute in Shopify. It never presses Submit for you.
  • read_shopify_payments_dispute_file_uploads
The evidence files already attached to a dispute.
  • write_shopify_payments_dispute_file_uploads
Lets Predispute attach evidence files to a dispute in Shopify. It never presses Submit for you.

How to uninstall

In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, Apps and sales channels, Predispute, Uninstall.

See your rate on each card network.
